Why should I use a serum?

A serum is a powerful shot of antioxidants that is formulated to a thin consistency. It should be layered under your moisturizer for an extra boost of anti- aging magic.

Different serums will supply specific ingredients for a specific result, such as retinol for smoothing fine lines, wrinkles, texture and acne. Hyaluronic acid to hydrate skin by drawing moisture into the top layers of the skin and vitamin C to help fade discoloration from sun damage and post-acne scarring. Other serums for acne could be formulated with AHA's (like glycolic acid), BHA's (salicylic acid) or ingredients like niacinamide which regulates oil and calms inflammation.

Adding a serum to your skincare routine is a great way to pump up the the anti-aging and skin clearing benefits that skincare products can provide.

Try adding a serum to your nighttime routine when you are out of the sun, as ingredients are more concentrated and can make skin more sensitive to the suns UV rays. Your skin also benefits most from skincare while you are sleeping, as your cells repair and regenerate.
